New Music by Struggle Jennings, "Soul On Fire" ft. Caitlynne Curtis

The Angels and Outlaws put out some amazing new music on March 1 in true Struggle Jennings fashion. "Soul On Fire" featuring Caitlynne Curtis went live and the music video is a hit with Country Rap News Staff.

The video starts with Struggle on the back of an old school patty wagon. It flashes pictures like tommy guns, money, and handcuffs between scenes of Struggle rapping. He's dressed in old school gangster era attire. His words come out flowing. He talks about the things he would do to take care of his family.

About the time that the chorus hits, the Angels come to Struggle's rescue in a fire red 50s model convertible. Caitlynne Curtis sings beautifully as she, Brianna Harness (daughter), and Tabitha Harness (wife) hold up the patty wagon. The girls don the same gangster clothing and old guns. They free the outlaw Struggle.

The group ditches the car on a back road and covers it with a tarp while Struggle spits his next bars. They disappear down the dirt road into the woods. When they reappear, the group is set around a fire laughing and having a good time. Caitlynne sings the verse in front of the fire as embers dance around her in the dark of night.

A swat team sneaks through the woods toward the group. The really interesting thing is, they are modern dressed. When they reach the fire, the only thing they find is a discarded cigar.

Struggle has always shared his past with his listeners. He never hid the fact that his past was spent as a true outlaw. He talks about overcoming his past life and focusing on taking care of his family. This song is no different.

In the lyrics of the second verse, he says, ”Now a smooth sailin'. Had a rough start. Took a rocky road, Through them tough parts. Yeah the cuffs clicked, But they open now. Became a free man. Took an oath and vow. Never break, Like I've been broken down"

With the video references mobsters from the 50s, and then turns modern, one may ask the meaning of the video. Is it a reference to the change in Struggle's life? He may have been a criminal in the past, but you won't find him there now. Or is he saying that he is an old school outlaw, living by an old code in a new age? Either way, the Angels and Outlaws really made this one shine.

Watch the video and read the lyrics below. Tell us what you think the meaning is?

Soul On Fire

Struggle Jennings (ft. Caitlynne Curtis)

Hold me down

All my bread is green

Like avocado toast

If you want the beef

I got a pot of roast

Got an honest soul

With a liars way

With a reckless night

Till my dyin' days

Behind the safe

Is a damaged heart

They try to box me in

But I stand apart

I broke the mold

To escape the cliches

Soul on fire

Baby feel the heat wave

Can't let up

But never give 'em leeway

Don't fall victim to the

He or she say

The way I'm livin'

Only end up three ways

This for the fam

So I'm cool

With each way

Came from the bottom

Ain't scared to fall

Truth hurts

But imma bear it all

And I'm gonna carry on

And I built the same mountain

I'm be buried on

What's best for me

Ain't my destiny

Is to give my family

The best of me

Be a guiding light

For the rest to see

Feed 'em all

And leave the recipe

My integrity

Gets slighty dirty

Try to keep you happy

Even if I'm hurtin'

Always workin'

So your future's certain

Hope I open eyes before

They close the curtain

I need you now

Don't wanna see the angels cry

I'd rather hear you lie

Than hear you say goodbye

Burnin' burnin' burnin' burnin'

Soul on fire

Yeah I'm burnin' burnin' burnin' burnin'

Don't let me down

(Imma try not to)

I need you now

Now a smooth sailin'

Had a rough start

Took a rocky road

Through them tough parts

Yeah the cuffs clicked

But they open now

Became a free man

Took an oath and vow

Never break

Like I've been broken down

Tryin' find balance

On this broken ground

My feet is planted

My mind is right

And imma die for mine

No fight or flight

Runnin' loose

You better hold me tight

Fire lit but I'm as cold as night

Keep me warm

And imma light your life

Baby name your number and the price is right

Promise that imma

Show your worth

You can see my pain

And I know it hurts

So I try to hide it

Set your mind at ease

Yeah, I made mistakes

Don't remind me, please

I'm livin' fast

Can't pump the brakes

Shawty life is short

Give it all it takes

Feel I failed

If the tables set

When it's dinner time

And there's empty plates

So I break my back

So we breakin' bread

Family full and the neighbors fed

My soul on fire, baby, flamin' red

And it burns for you

Till the day I'm dead

I need you now

Don't want to see the angels cry

I'd rather hear you lie

Than hear you say goodbye

Burnin' burnin' burnin' burnin'

Soul on fire

Burnin' burnin' burnin' burnin'

Don't let me down

I need you now

I need you now

I need you now

I need you now

Don't want to see the angels cry

I'd rather hear you lie

Than hear you say goodbye

Burnin' burnin' burnin' burnin'

Soul on fire

Burnin' burnin' burnin' burnin'

Don't let me down

I need you now
