Former President Donald Trump was rushed off the stage into his rally in Pennsylvania today after what sounded like gunshots were heard. Trump is currently safe and is expected to survive, according to law enforcement officials. The scene was chaotic as Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him and escorted him to safety.

Suspected shooter has been identified outside of the rally but no names have been released at this time. The situation is now being investigated by the Secret Service, and further information will be released when available.
One witness, Greg, told the BBC he was outside the rally and could only hear the former president talking, when he noticed a man on top of a roof.
“We noticed the guy crawling up the roof of the building beside us, 50 feet away from us,” Greg said. “He had a rifle, we could clearly see him with a rifle.”
Greg said they pointed the man out to police.
“Next thing you know, I’m thinking to myself why is Trump still speaking? Why have they not pulled him off the stage?” he said. “I’m standing there pointing at him... the next thing you know, five shots ring out.” Bear in mind the situation is still fluid and we cannot fully verify these early witness reports.
President Joe Biden has been briefed on the situation, and Vice President Kamala Harris has also received an initial briefing. Politicians from both sides of the aisle have expressed their concern and prayers for Trump's well-being.

I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my
condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.
